Prerequisite studies in summer
About the programme
You may be offered prerequisite studies that should be completed during a summer school in order to qualify for admission to the master’s programmes in: Social Entrepreneurship and Management, and Nordic Urban Planning Studies.
You have to pass the prerequisite studies before the semester start in order to be allowed to start on the master's programme. The prerequisite studies consist of 1 summer course of 10 ECTS. The course will be within philosophy of science and relevant scientific methodology. Your letter of admission will state the exact course that you are required to take, depending on the programme that you have been admitted to.
See description of the course in RUC’s course catalog.
Both Danish and international students must pay tuition fees for the courses. You pay the tuition fee rates set for guest students. You can get an overview of the fees here.
Participation and organization
It is compulsory to attend all course days in July and August. The courses consist of lectures, cluster discussions, group work, as well as exercises and self-study through Moodle, RUC's digital learning platform.
Please note that the workload during the period of the courses corresponds to a full-time load.
Self-study via Moodle
By self-study, we mean that you have to read texts for each topic of the course as preparation for class participation. You must read between 60-80 pages for each topic. In addition, you must complete the exercises in Moodle. The exercises deal with the topics of the course, as well as the obligatory texts. You must have completed and uploaded all exercises to Moodle during the period of self-study in order to access the remainder of the course.
Final exam
After you have completed the course days in August, you are required to participate in a group exam for each course.
It is an oral exam with an external examiner and is based on both the individual exercises that are solved throughout the self-study period, as well as a joint piece of work that is prepared in groups during the course days. A more detailed explanation will be given at the beginning of the course.
Course literature
The course literature will consist of a textbook, articles and excerpts from books. We recommend that you buy the books for the course in advance. Information about course literature and books to buy can be found on study.ruc.dk and Moodle (requires login).
Access to Moodle
You will have access to RUC's learning platform, Moodle, through a personal login. You will get more information about this in your admission letter. You will get access and an introduction to Moodle on the day the courses start. You must be able to access Moodle during the complete course period, and it is therefore important that you have access to an online computer during this period.
