How you will be contacted concerning your application
All messages and decisions are sent via the DANS application system.
Each time a new message is available for you in the DANS application system, you will receive an e-mail containing a link. You must follow the link to read the message in the DANS application system.
The e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address that you used when creating your application. If you applied using your NemID, there is an e-mail address associated with your NemID.
If you are unsure which e-mail address is used to communicate with you, you can check it by logging in to the DANS application system and open the tab 'See status of applications' and click on 'View application'.
You can see the status of your application and read messages concerning your application by logging into the DANS application system.

You may be requested to upload missing documentation
After you submit your application, the university begins to process your application.
In some cases, we need additional documentation from you or we have other important messages.
You will often be given a very short deadline to respond to the notification e.g. concerning missing documentation. It is therefore very important that you keep an eye on the messages we send to you in the application system. This applies to both before and after the final decision. Therefore, you should make sure to check your e-mail frequently.
If you are asked to upload additional documentation, your application will be re-opened in order for you to submit the documentation to the relevant section of the online application form. The notification concerning the requirement of additional documentation includes a guide on how to upload the documentation.
Application decisions
You will receive one of the following types of decisions to your application:
Admission
This means that you fulfil all of the requirements and have been offered a study place at Roskilde University.
If you have applied for admission to more than one master’s programme, you will only receive an offer to the highest priority where you qualify for admission. You will therefore not receive a response to the other priority/priorities, and you cannot change to a lower priority.
Conditional admission
This means that you do not fulfil all of the requirements and you must fulfil certain conditions before you can be offered a study place at Roskilde University. One or more of the following three conditions may apply:
- You may be asked to upload additional documentation.
- You may be required to complete prerequisite studies at bachelor’s level at Roskilde University in order to qualify for admission to the master’s programme. Please read the information about prerequisite studies. (Please note that this is not an option if you are a non-EU/EEA citizen that need a residence permit based on studies, as you will not be able to get a residence permit based on this type of studies.)
- You may be required to pay tuition fees, if you are a non-EU/EEA citizen.
If you have applied for admission to more than one master’s programme, you will only receive an offer to the highest priority you are qualified for. This also applies if it is conditional admission with the requirement of completing prerequisite studies first.
NB: You cannot change to a lower priority after the application deadline.
Rejection
This means that you do not fulfil the admission requirements and cannot be offered admission. The reason of rejection will be stated in the letter of rejection. If you receive a refusal, it is not possible to apply before the next deadline. Roskilde University does not offer vacant study places for the master’s programmes.
If you have been offered admission
Accept or reject the study place
You usually have 1 week from date the letter is sent to respond. Regardless of whether you accept or reject the offer it is important for the University to receive your answer. If the University has not received your acceptance by the deadline, the offer will be annulled. Information on how to respond will be stated in the admission offer.
Upload additional documentation and/or pay tuition fees
If you have been offered conditional admission requesting you to submit additional documentation (e.g. your bachelor’s diploma), the Admissions Office will send a notice in the application system asking you to upload the documentation.
You will not be able to upload documentation before you receive this notification. There will be some processing time from when you accept the offered study place until we open your application so you can upload the necessary documentation.
If you have been requested to pay tuition fees, you will receive a tuition fee invoice in the application system usually a couple of weeks after you have received the offer of conditional admission.
Follow the instructions in your offer of admission
Read your offer of admission or conditional admission carefully, and follow the indicated links, for example, to information about your study start and your courses. Then you are well-prepared for your studies at Roskilde University.
