As part of CASH-IN, together with colleagues, PhD Fellow Jacob Ulrich is focussing on the potential for scaling of social cash transfers by allocating a major part of global development assistance to cash transfers.
Global aid is about 180 billion USD annually and the question is what would happen if a major part of this were to be given directly to poor people through for example old-age pensions or child support. Would that lead to better or worse results than current aid?
This is studied, amongst others through economic modelling using Uganda as a case.
