POLIO

As of April 9, the Global Polio Eradication Initiative reports a total of four cVDPV2 cases and two cVDPV2-positive environmental samples in Africa. Additionally, Israel reported one cVDPV2-positive environmental sample.

A cVDPV2 virus genetically linked to a 2024 Indonesia strain has been detected in wastewater from Lae City, collected on 11 March. No paralysis cases or signs of local transmission have been found, but authorities have notified WHO and launched a high-risk response, acoording to the Global Polio Eradication Initiative.

 

H5N1

No cases of person-to-person or mammal-to-mammal transmission of H5N1 have been reported in the U.S. as of April 15.

 

MPOX

Data from the World Health Organization shows 3560 laboratory confirmed MPOX cases in Uganda. This is an increase of 301 cases from March 30-April 6, 2025.

On April 8, the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health confirmed the country's first Clade 1b mpox case in a traveler returning from Africa. The individual is in isolation, and authorities state there is no risk to the public.

 

MEASLES

As of April 11, 2025, Center for Disease Control reports a total of 712 confirmed measles cases in the U.S. in 2025. 11 % of cases are/have been hospitalized (79 cases of 712), and 3 cases have died.
 

As of April 11, 2025, Texas Department of State Health Services reports 541 cases of measles from this year. This is an increase of 70 from April 4, 2025. The majority of cases are unvaccinated/have unknown vaccination status (530 cases of 541).
 

According to Infobae, a 31 year-old unvaccinated man has died from measles in Mexico. The case was related to the ongoing outbreak in Texas.
